Quail Hunting is considered the classic gentleman hunt, and for years immortalized in all the great hunting books. It is a deep inbred part of the southern hunting tradition, in fact it is referred as the Royal Hunt of the Americas. At RANCHO EL RIO we bring to you a southern tradition with a Mexican flavor. What we lack in southern terrain, pine trees, we make up in a truly wild bird. These birds are not pen-raised and released.

These Mexican BobWhites are hatched into an unforgiving environment of cactus, mesquite brush and predators and must be swift of wing to survive. Survive they do in great numbers. With little hunting pressure I can assure you of an exciting quail hunt at RANCHO EL RIO.

Attire:
  • The weather during our winter season will average in the 60's. Frequent cold fronts can drop temperatures to freezing, so be prepared.

Footwear:
  • Light-weight boots for quail hunting (well broken in)
  • Snake chaps/boots are strongly suggested.
  • Hip boots or waders a must for duck hunters

Join me, Paul A. Sanchez as your personal hunting guide as we go covey to covey over outstanding points by some excellent dog work.
